Avian Flu killer is launched in UK A POCKET-SIZED device which can kill 99.99% of the Bird Flu virus in 5 seconds and destroy MRSA is being launched in the UK by Scottish sourcing specialist Product Scout. The Glasgow-based company has secured the rights to ship and appoint a distributor in the UK, France, Spain and Australia for the Nano-UV™ Portable Disinfection Light, which has been developed by Hong Kong-based nanotechnology and lighting specialist Corva Technology Ltd. Described as the “World's first compact disinfection light”, the product looks like a mobile phone but flips open to reveal a powerful ultraviolet lamp which can kill 99.99% of the Avian Flu virus H5N1 and harmful bacteria such as MRSA, E.coli and Salmonella in just 10 seconds. By using breakthrough "multi-wavelength" UV technology combining UVA, UVB and UVC rays, the light is vastly more effective than standard UV disinfection products at killing the DNA of viruses, bacteria and fungi by simulating the ultraviolet rays of the sun. This has a sterilising effect when passed over surfaces including contact lenses, baby's dummies, nappy changing tables, cutlery, toilet seats, keyboards, towels, toothbrushes, tableware, foodstuffs and any item with possible surface contamination. The Nano-UV™ Portable Disinfection Light has been rigorously tested and verified for both functionality and safety by some of the world's top testing labs, including SGS, CMA Testing and Certification Laboratories and the Hong Kong Productivity Council. Corva Technology specialises in using nanotechnology and ultraviolet light to fight epidemic bacteria and viruses and has a patent pending on the new device. Product Scout and Corva Technology believe it has numerous applications covering homes, schools, nurseries, offices, hospitals, hotels, restaurants, holidays and travel. "With so many headlines in the news about Avian Flu and bacteria in the workplace, people in UK are obviously worried about hygiene and bacteria in general as well as food safety," says Product Scout’s Kenny McCaffrey. "But unless they swab everything with alcohol wipes, there's not much they could do about it - until now. The beauty of this product is that it's small enough to carry everywhere and powerful enough to give you peace of mind in any situation, whether you drop something on the floor, handle second-hand goods or need to use outside facilities, including eating out, going to hospital, taking a cruise or backpacking. Why take a chance?" The Nano-UV™ Portable Disinfection Light can be used to sterilise any surface except the skin and has a built-in safety device to ensure each operation only lasts 10 seconds. It also carries warnings not to use the device on any part of the body or to look directly into the light. It runs on two 'AAA' batteries, which will last an average 300 to 400 scannings. Holding the lamp 5mm from the targeted surface produces the best results. Product Scout is currently taking orders and seeking an exclusive UK distributor for the Nano-UV™ Portable Disinfection Light, which is expected to retail for between £30 to £40. for UK importers and selling patented products and technology to some
of the world's biggest contract manufacturers in Asia, Europe and America.
The company's key areas of interest include consumer goods, electronics,
scientific toys and games, medical products (which do not require intrusion
of the body) and any products requiring clean-room facilities. The company
regularly visits large international manufacturers who are both looking
for partnerships on a royalty basis or outright purchase of new product
ideas. Founder Kenny McCaffrey built his career in international sales
with Fife papermaker Inveresk and moved into product sourcing when Asian
manufacturers started asking him for product ideas to fill their large
factories.

Frequently Asked Questions
Nano-UV™ can only be used to sterilise the
surface of food which may have been contaminated by other raw food, knives
or handling. It is not suitable for sterilising food which may be infected
internally due to improper storage or expiration. As Nano-UV™ imitates
the ultraviolet of the sun, using it on the surface of food does not deteriorate
or radiate the food or generate hazardous substances. The wavelength of common ultraviolet disinfection products is generally 253.7nm, but the Nano-UV™ emits a full range of ultraviolet from 185nm ~ 365nm, simulating the ultraviolet rays of the sun. Thus, Nano-UV kills harmful bacteria and viruses more rapidly than existing ultraviolet products. Nanotechnology and nano material are also applied to the UV tube to enhance the disinfection power of the light. Is the Nano-UV™ Portable Disinfection Light harmful to the skin of the human body? The device's built-in safety device automatically switches the lamp off after 10 seconds. It also carries warnings not to use the device on any part of the body or to look directly into the light. Exposure to the Nano-UV™ for 1 minute is like exposure to very strong sunlight and will not be harmful or damage the skin. However over-exposure to Nano-UV will cause the skin to burn in the same way as over-exposure to the sun. The skin will become red and may be slightly painful. However after few days, the skin will peel and then recover. The symptoms would be the same as sunburn. Is the Nano-UV™ Portable Disinfection Light harmful to the eyes? Yes, Nano-UV™ may damage the eyes. The device carries warnings not to use the device on any part of the body or look directly into the light. This is not a toy.
